Fifty Nigerians across fields including musician David Adeleke, #BringBackourGirls campaigner Aisha Yesufu and Pastor Sam Adeyemi have been dragged to the Abuja magistrate court over their alleged roles in the recent EndSARS demonstration.
In the lawsuit instituted by a self-acclaimed human rights activist, Kenechukwu Okeke, the defendants were accused of using Twitter to cause uproar through an #EndSARS protest which later degenerated to violence.
Okeke said the action of the defendants is an offence punishable under section 97(2) of the Penal Code Act, C53 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

Meanwhile, Pastor Sam Adeyemi of the Daystar Christian Centre has reacted to the lawsuit against him by the Nigerian activist, with the popular clergyman asking “who sent this guy to file this frivolous law suit?”
In related news, the Nigerian presidency stated that EndSARS promoters must face the wrath of the law for leading a protest that led to the indiscriminate destruction of government properties.
Garba Shehu, a senior presidential aide on media and publicity, on Sunday, November 8, made this known on Channels TV, with his comment backing the recent freezing of suspected EndSARS leaders’ accounts.
Shehu also berated desperate politicians for sponsoring the EndSARS protest and told them to publicly denounce the destruction.
