Sexually transmitted infections are infections you could get via any form of sexual activity including vaginal and oral sex. They include infections caused by Human immuno-deficiency Virus(HIV), Herpes Simplex Virus( HSV), Human Papilloma Virus(HPV), Treponema Pallidum which causes syphilis, Niesseria gonorrhoea which causes gonorrhoea, Chlamydia trachomatis which causes Chlamydial infections.
Timely and effective testing and treatment guard against the damage these infections can cause. Complications arise when these infections are not detected and treated early. Complications of sexually transmitted infections include life-time dependency on medicines, fertility-related issues and even death.

Urinary Tract Infections are infections which affect the urinary tract – the bladder, the kidneys and the urethra. These infections cause symltoms such as frequent urination, burning sensation while urinating, strong smelling urine, cloudy urine as well as bloody urine. They are caused by bacteria and fungi; bacteria such as _Escherichia coli Klebsiella pneumoniae, _Proteus mirabilis, Streptococcus species, Staphyococus saprophyticus, enterococcus faecalis and Candida species. These bacteria can infect any of the organs of the urinary tract causing serious consequences like kidney stones, kidney failure, bladder stones, neurological damage, urinary obstruction etc.

Sexual activity is closely linked with urinary tract infections. It is in fact, one of the predisposing factors. Other predisposing factors are: obesity, diabetes, vaginal infection, dirty rest rooms, not taking care of your pubic areas especially the vagina and penis region, being a female gender, etc.

There is an alarming rate of infertility among young couples. This could be traced to:
