Gaza’s Health Ministry says the blast was caused by an Israeli airstrike – but Israel denies this, and claims it happened as a result of a failed Islamic Jihad rocket launch.

Tens of thousands of people took to the streets last night, protesting at Israel’s embassies in Turkey and Jordan and near the US embassy in Lebanon.

Security forces fired tear gas toward the crowds but, driven by fury, this did not deter them.

The violence came just hours before US President Joe Biden is due to arrive in Tel Aviv today to signal support for Israel’s war against Hamas.
